I'm Sheri Gaynor, a passionate advocate for the transformative power of creativity. For over 35 years, I have been privileged to guide individuals and groups through life-changing expressive arts workshops and retreats, witnessing countless stories of healing and empowerment.
In 2011, I launched my teacher training program to share this work on a deeper level, empowering others to bring the magic of expressive arts into their communities. This year, I took the next bold step in this journey by founding the Creative Awakenings Expressive Arts Academy—a mentorship program dedicated to nurturing creativity, connection, and growth. Together, we can create a world where the power of art ignites healing, fosters transformation, and inspires limitless possibilities.

My professional background integrates my roles as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, artist, author, and transformational life coach. IÂ weave the alchemy of creativity with the wisdom of horses to guide others on paths of healing, growth, and transformation.
As I step into the final quarter of life’s dance—now, mystifyingly, considered an elder—I feel a profound sense of purpose and passion. My journey has been one of discovery, growth, and transformation, and now I am eager to share the gifts of creativity and experiential practices with others.
I’m a bit of a rebel and as such, not very good at staying in the lines, and enjoy inspiring others to do the same.
I have a love/hate relationship with risk and challenge, so this appears to be my life path and what makes me good at helping others take small (or large) calculated leaps.
I am a gypsy through the blood of my maternal Great-Grandmother Sarah, and apparently, that lineage was strong, as I have an insatiable taste for adventure.
I am a fierce advocate for my clients and devotedly passionate about my work and feel blessed to have facilitated so many client awakenings.

Step OneÂ
EnVision: Introduction to Creative Awakenings
- This foundational course is the prerequisite to becoming a Creative Awakenings Approved Level One Facilitator (CAAF)
- Learn to use Sheri's book Creative Awakenings as a powerful tool for personal transformation
- You’ll experience the signature prompt of the Creative Awakenings practice and process and through your own visual journaling experience, learn how the book is a powerful tool for creating intention, self-reflection, personal growth, and creative insight.
- Eligibility to apply for Creative Awakenings: Level One, Expressive Arts Certification
- IMPORTANT NOTE: This first step does NOT qualify you to teach or facilitate Sheri's book. This introductory workshop has been designed as a personal growth journey, based on my belief that we must walk the path ourselves before we can guide others.
Step TwoÂ
Roots + Foundations
- Having completed Step One, you’re ready to deepen your skills in expressive arts facilitation.Â
- Level One will begin your Creative Awakenings Approved Facilitator (CAAF) journey
- Explore the roots and foundations of Person-Centered expressive arts facilitation.
- Learn how to create a safe, supportive container for individuals and groups.
- Develop a meaningful project to carry forward into your mentorship practicum.

Step Three
Art in Community

 A 4-Week Supervised Group Practicum. Following the completion of Step Two, this transformative guided practicum is designed for those ready to bring their passion for expressive arts facilitation into the world.
- Over eight weeks, you’ll lead your first group and receive mentorship directly with Registered Expressive Arts Therapist (REAT), Sheri Gaynor, gaining the confidence and tools to lead your first group successfully.
- Learn how to bring the work into your community by partnering with organizations and nonprofits.
- Build your confidence knowing you have support and guidance and don't have to go it alone
- Receive tips, templates, and real-world information on creating flyers and pricing.Â
