The Creative Awakenings Mentorship program is an in-depth online training that offers you the tools to confidently guide individuals and groups to use creative process as a transformative life practice. 

In this introductory training you will learn by doing, as it is my belief that we must walk a mile in our own creative journey before we can lead someone through theirs! 

But Sheri, I’m not an artist? Is this course right for me?

YES! I am SO glad you asked because it’s one of the most common questions I hear from my students. You don't need any prior "artistic" experience to join this program. I’ll tell you a little secret: this limiting belief is one that I held too. It is what led me to apply for photography school (my first incarnation) because, I too, once thought it was the only way I could be an “artist” and I had a deep need to explore and express what I felt inside. 

My initial exploration into creative expression began behind the lens of an SLR camera, capturing images that stirred my soul in black and white film and developing them in the darkroom. It was an exhilarating experience that I absolutely adored! However, as time went on, I began to realize that this form of expression alone wasn't fulfilling my deepest yearnings. I felt a strong desire to explore and express myself in various other ways beyond photography

After all, creativity is innate to all of us—it's something we're born with, just waiting to be rediscovered and unleashed. Think back to the uninhibited joy and curiosity of your inner 2-year-old. That's the essence of fearless creativity that we'll tap into together! 

As your mentor and guide, I'm here to nurture and encourage you every step of the way. Together, we'll dive deep into the roots of your limiting beliefs and reclaim the truth: that creativity is your birthright! Through this personal creative inquiry, you'll not only discover your own potential but also learn how to support others on their own creative journeys.

How did you learn to do this?

“Flying by the seat of my pants!”

There is a lot of truth to that statement, as when I began this work in 1988, I lived in a rural community, there was no internet and I didn’t know anyone who was using creativity in their practice. Along the way, there have also been remarkable guides who have come into my life at just the right moment.

The Person-Centered Expressive Therapy Institute (PCETI), Dr. Natalie Rogers, Anin Utgaard, Shelly Davis, Maria Gonzalez-Blue, are some of the more transformative mentors I’ve had the good fortune of traveling with.

I understand what it’s like to walk a path alone and you don’t have to. Creatives are often soloists. We like working alone, moving to the rhythm of our own drum. Yet there are times it can feel isolating or stale, and that’s where the power of co-creating can offer an infusion of collaborative inspiration.

The beauty of my 30-year career as an experiential practitioner is that every day is a new adventure, it’s never gotten old and I don’t feel burned out. I would LOVE to support you in feeling the same way!

As I move into the final quarter of life’s dance, mystifyingly now considered an elder, I find myself filled with a profound sense of purpose and passion. My journey has been one of discovery, growth, and transformation, and now I am eager to share the gifts of creativity with others.

My mission is clear: to pass on the magic of creativity coaching to those ready to embrace it. Whether you're a therapist, life coach, artist, community changemaker, or simply someone seeking more joy and fulfillment in life, I'm here to guide you. But my vision goes beyond individual transformation. I believe-and know-that creativity has the power to ripple out into our communities, uplifting and inspiring those around us.
